Flights, ferries, snorkeling and a 3-day plan — from our local team
Weh Island (Pulau Weh) is the westernmost island of Indonesia, home to the town of Sabang, the Kilometre Zero monument and Iboih Beach. Every trip goes through Banda Aceh and then by boat to Balohan port.
Fly into Sultan Iskandar Muda International Airport (BTJ). Direct flights usually operate from Jakarta and Medan, and there are typically routes from Kuala Lumpur. International travellers from Europe or Australia usually connect via Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur or Medan. Always check current airline schedules.
Taxi or ride-hailing, about 40 minutes (≈ 20 km).
| Option | Time | Best for |

| Fast boat | ≈ 45 min | Foot passengers |
| Slow ferry | ≈ 2 hours | Cars & motorbikes, cheaper |
Several departures daily; schedules can change with the weather. Buy fast-boat tickets early on weekends and holidays.
About 30 km / 50 minutes through Sabang town and a scenic coastal road. Taxis, rental cars and scooters are available at the port — we can arrange a pickup for you.
Rubiah Island lies directly across from Iboih Beach, about 10 minutes by boat from the jetty near our hotel. Shallow coral gardens, tropical fish and sometimes turtles. Dive centres around Iboih and Gapang offer fun dives and courses. Our snorkeling trip starts from Rp 190,000 per person.
Respect the reef: don’t touch or stand on coral, use reef-safe sunscreen. Aceh follows Islamic customs — modest clothing is appreciated outside the beach area.
